Ralph Waite
June 22, 1928 – February 13, 2014


Best known for playing John Walton, Sr. on the CBS series The Walton's which ran for nine seasons from 1972 to 1981.

Waite ran unsuccessfully for Congress in California as a Democrat three times 1990, twice in 1998.

He also guest starred on a number of films such as Cool Hand Luke, Roots and The Bodyguard along with a number of shows Days of Our Lives, Bones, Carnivàle, The Mississippi, Murder One, Time Trax, The New Outer Limits, The Practice, Grey's Anatomy, & more.

Most recently Waite has portrayed Jackson Gibbs, The father of NCIS Special Agent Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) on the hit CBS drama NCIS.

NCIS posted the following on there Facebook page.

"Everyone at NCIS is deeply saddened by the passing of our friend and colleague Ralph Waite. Ralph was family to us, a tremendous talent and a very special man. We truly cherish the time we had with him. Our hearts and prayers go out to his loved ones." - The Cast & Crew of NCIS

I don't know if your a fan of the show NCIS or not but Waite's now final episode was fantastic and I highly recommend it. It was episode 7 of this season and aired on November 5th, 2013. The episode was titled "Better Angels"
