| Carmike BigD Has anybody been to a movie in the new theaters? I just saw 21 Jump Street at the one in Maryville over the weekend.
The screen is cool. It's huge. But the DTS is absolutely insane. It produces audio on a level I've never experienced. I'm not really an audiophile, but it seems like the cleanest bass I've heard.
Hell, it made the Titanic preview pretty damn intense. At the end of the preview, I thought for a second I actually wanted to see the remastered Titanic movie.
I cannot wait to see Batman in this theater.
It's also really fun to tell all the cashiers and ticket takers "Hi, we're here to experience the Big D!" "Can you direct us to the Big D?" |

| So is it just the audio that they've improved? I'm hearing a local theater here in Utah installed seats that move/rumble to improve the experience. |

| For me, it's mainly the audio. It also has a 75 ft wide screen, but once you reach typical IMAX theater sizes, the audio stands out more for me than a few extra feet of screen. |

| Does anyone have an estimate from someone who has seen Hunger Games of how many explosions are in the movie? Or the average loudness of the noises. I'm hoping that Big D can make it more intense. |

| usrs?
I dunno, at first I thought it looked really good. Then I found out it was based on a book that all the preteens are obsessed with, so it's being compared to Twilight, which has kinda turned me off of it a bit. But I'm still going to see it.
It's like a futuristic society after the fall of the US. And each of 12 regions sends a young representative to the "hunger games" which is like a Stephen King novel. It's a nationally televised game to the death, and on and on. I dont know in detail. I'm just trusting it will be watchable. It better have explosions.
WHEN DOES BATMAN COME OUT?!@?!~ |
