I think they wanted to distance themselves from the 1st movie as much as possible, without doing another cliched reboot. I actually liked the 1st one, but its not looked upon very favorably. Looks like Duke even bites it early on in this one too.
Should've brought back Scarlett IMO. Baroness too, but Sienna Miller didn't want to do a 2nd one.

So is the plot saying that most of the first team was killed off when the Government turned on G.I. Joe? If that's the case, that changes my opinion and I can roll with that.
