DVR, Tivo and Home Entertainment Centers?

I have recently upgraded my viewing pleasure from a CRT TV to a LED LCD. I want to continue the digital revolution and get or compile a complete entertainment center and I don't know enough about whats out there, either as single components or complete systems.

The bells and whistles..... I would like to be able to record TV programs. Playing back live TV would be OK but is not a real need\want. Also playing blue ray disk and recording to a CD or DVD from any analog\digital source. I think to that I have heard about up-converting to a 1080 ip technologhy. All this needs to be Dolby 5.1.

I want to "as always spend as little as possible"

Any recommendations on single components or complete ready to go systems would be of great help.

go get a HT in a box with a blu-ray included. Might have to buy a separate one to record but that's about it. Grab a DVR from your cable company (or tivo if you want to spend the money for more space) and your tv is taken care of

You should be able to get about everything you need in a nice surround sound with a blu ray receiver. Most new ones upconverts to HD. And youll have the 5.1 dolby.

On a DVR note, the Direct HD box I have has a HUGE hard drive compared to my old Charter Cable box. I probably have 20 HD movies on there with still more than 50% capacity.
