Here are the answers!

1. What year did NASCAR run the most races and how many? 1964-62 races.
I would have thought it would have been earlier. There were weeks when they did 2 or 3 races amd no off weeks,

2. Who won the last race at North Wilkesborough Speedway on 29 Sep 1996? Jeff Gordon

3. What is the oldes track in NASCAR? Martinsville; it was first a dirt track in 1950 and paved in 1955.

4. Who won 27 races in 1967? Richard "The Kimg" Petty

5. Who won the 1st Daytona 500? Lee Petty

6. Who is known as the "Golden Boy" of NASCAR?
Fred Lorenzen; I believe he raced in a Ford

7. Who was the 1st driver to lead every lap on a superspeedway race? Glenn "Fireball" Roberts; Believe his car number was 22

8. Who holds the record for most poles in a single season?Bobby Isaac -20 in 1969

I knew all but #2 & #8, Lorenzen drove for Holman & Moody, the main Ford team, car # 28. Fireball did drive #22, even when he changed teams. Some drivers kept their numbers back then. Lee Petty - 42; Richard Petty - 43; Ned Jarrett - 11; Junior Johnson - 27; Joe Weatherly - 8; Rex White - 1; Big John Sears - 4; Cotton Owens - 6; Buck Baker - 88; There were many more, these are the ones I can recall immediately.

Was easier to keep up with the drivers/car numbers back in the 60's and 70's and even the 80's. Believe the 90's and more so now that drivers have changed car numbers, type of car driven and sponsor.
Bobby Labonte used to drive the #18 Dodge before Kyle Busch did. Bobby has changed cars and teams three times now.
I'd like to see the #43 retired.

For example... Joe Gibbs Racing first fielded Chevys, then Pontiacs, and then back to Chevys while Labonte was there.

Apparently the car numbers were not "owned' by the car owners back then. Fireball drove for Ray Fox, Smokey Yunick, Holman & Moody and himself early on, but had 22 for all these as a number. After his death there was talk of retiring the number, but it never happened.
