Joe Gibbs Racing/ Tony Stewart?

Will Joe Gibbs Racing be the first owner(or Tony Stewart the first driver) to win championships with three diffrent manufacturers if one ot the other pulls it off this year? If so where does this fit in the history of NASCAR?

Not at all. Petty Enterprises holds that record, both as owner and for a driver. They won for 5 different manufacturers and Richard won for 4 different ones.

Petty Enterprises:
1954 Lee Petty Hudson
1958 & 59 Lee Petty Chevrolet
1964 Richard Petty Ford
1967 Richard Petty Plymouth
1971, 72, 74 & 79 Richard Petty Chevrolet
1975 Richard Petty Dodge

In 54 LP drove a Chrysler 58 Oldsmobile and 59 Plymoth
RP 64,67,71,72 Plymoth 74,75 Dodge 79 Cheverolet
You are right that they have won with more maunfacturers. Aren't Plymoth and Dodge the same? I'm not sure, a little before my time.

1964 Petty drove a Plymouth, and yes both are Chrysler products. In the eighties RP drove a hodgepodge of GM cars, Chev, Olds, Buick Regal and finally Grand Prix. He did drive a Ford one year in the 70s. In 1978 he tried to go back to Dodge and tested a Mirada at Daytona that was too slow to have any chance so he stuck with Chevy.
