Daytona 500 or Indy 500

The Daytona 500 vs The Indy 500.

I just would like to see your opinions on...

Which one do you think is bigger?

Which one is more exciting?

And, if you had one choice, which one would u go to?

Me personally...

I think right now, the Indy 500 is more prestige because of how long it has been running.

(Almost twice as long as the Daytona 500)

I would rather see the Daytona 500 in person, because I have been to a couple of Daytona night races and they are pretty cool.

And, I think they're both exciting, but latley I have enjoyed the Indy 500 more and more, while the Daytona 500 is losing some of its excitement.

Although the last few laps this year were awesome.

I was actually thinking about this while I was watching Indy. Nascar is 100 hundreds time better than the IRL, but the Indy 500 is better than the Daytona 500.

Indy 500 is better.. if they would move the Daytona 500 later in the season, it would be better, but Indy is the mecca.

How would moving the date make the Daytona 500 better? That's part of the charm I thought, the biggest race on the schedule also being the first race.

I thought the same thing.

Although if they ever move it, even though they shouldn't..

Wouldn't it be pretty cool to have it be the race before the chase starts, where you have several drivers willing to do anything to get in the chase.

believe it or not, I agree with kkept48....I dont like the first race being the biggest race.....everyone gets beter as the year goes on, new teammates run better together, and driver/team relationships get better...the first race might as well be a crap shoot.........but maybe thats what kept Hendrick from winning it this year

wow, lightning strikes again!

I just think having the single biggest race of the year as the first race makes it a little less important. It's the first race of 36, which means you have 35 more to make up points if you suck it up. Moving the Daytona 500 to the start of the Chase, for instance, makes it more important to win and run well in.

Knoxville Nationals in Iowa The sprintcar superbowl, I have been to one. I have been to Daytona to so I would pick Indy. Tont Rena died at Indy who was a friend and Jeff Simmons I did race with a long time ago, so I will say Indy. Those Indy cars are some kinda bad as2 piece of racecar.

If you had asked me this question 5 or more years ago, I would have said the Daytona 500. Now that Nascar focuses more on entertainment than racing, I will have to go with the Indy 500.

I have always thought that the Indy 500 was bigger. Even fans that don't follow Formula 1 racing seem to tune into the Indy 500 and I am one of them. I think most people that watch the Daytona 500 probably follow the whole Nascar season or at least until they get bored with it. LOL

I couldn't tell you which one was more exciting. I can tell you for me personally that this year I was more looking foward to the Indy 500 than the Daytona 500. I am into Nascar less and less every year.

If I had one choice, I would go to the Indy 500, simply because I have been to a Daytona 500 and all of the Nascar races seem all the same to me now. It doesn't stand out as much as it used to. The Indy 500 stands out over all the rest of the races on their schedule, as it should.

the Indy 500 is for the IRL. the U.S. Grand Prix (at the road course that uses IMS as well) is for F1.

if somebody said they would give me free tickets for the rest of my life to the Indy 500 or the Daytona 500, i'd say thanks before they even got to 'or'. there is no comparison.

Like JennVols pointed out, the fact that a bunch of non IndyCar fans tune in to the Indy 500 speaks volumes about how big the race is. While I'm sure some people do, I can't imagine the number is as large for non NASCAR fans that watch the Daytona 500.

Indy500 - I've never been to the Daytona 500 so I would like to go but Indy is bigger. It is much more of a stand alone event.

Unfortunately, both are so tied to their series that you can't have the crossover that both used to have.
