| Jimmie Johnson should be the pts. leader by a country mile All he's done this year is win races...
They don't reward winning like they should in NASCAR. Might as well call it Commie Car racin'... give all the other drivers a chance to feel good about themselves and don't reward the drivers that achieve.
Won 3 of the last 4, 4 top 5 finishes.
Jeff Burton and the Rainbow Warrior don't even have any wins and they are ahead of him. ESPN.com - NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Standings |

| | Senior Member | Jeff Gordon has had overall better finishes than Jimmie. Jimmie has had one race where I think he wasn't in the top 15 or 20 and both Gordon and Burton have. In the next 3-4 races Jimmie may pass Burton.
It could be a one team race(Jeff/Jimmie)as we near the end of the regular season before the CHASE!

terrible... and are you telling me that finishing in the top 10 one more time than Jimmie Johnson is a greater accomplishment than leading the last lap of the race 3 times more than Gordon or Burton? That is essentially what you are saying.
Top 10 finishes >> wins... just pathetic logic

I realize you don't like that answer. You didn't like it two weeks ago when JJ won his second race, and I assume you won't like it after he wins his fourth race.

Most wins (8), most top 5's (20) and most top 10's (25) and still finished 8 points behind Kurt Busch. NASCAR.COM
Pathetic... They don't reward winning in NASCAR like they should... |

The facts speak for themselves... winning is not rewarded in NASCAR. If it was, then 2004 wouldn't have happened.
Please explain to me how somebody that has more wins, top 5s and top 10 loses by 8 points?
What, did Jimmie not collect enough lap leader points?
The leading the last lap should count more than some guy leading laps 86-115... |

| what does something that happened 3 years ago have to do with anything?
if Babe Ruth had the technology we have now back in 1920 something, he'd be so far ahead in homeruns you'd need binoculars to even see him. what's your point?
now, somebody find a link that describes how the points work this year as opposed to last year, since the perfect definition that tidwell gave isn't working.
and by your theory, Kasey Kahne (sh)would have won it all last year.
trust me, i've been saying forever that NASCAR needs to reward WINNING. this is the first year that they have actually taken steps toward that. |

And as far as last year is concerned, Kahne may have had more wins, but you guys (along with NASCAR) seem to value top 10 and top 5 finishes so much. Well, Jimmie beat him in top 5s/10s...
Seems to me that drivers that just sit back and play for position/points ain't racing, there just playing it safe. Why should you reward somebody like that? |

| And another thing about last year, didn't Jimmie Johnson have some Nextel points taken away from him after Daytona?
He still overcame the haters and got the title (which he should have won in 2004)... |
