looked like it was a great game and a pretty sweet catch at the wall to save the no hitter.

Came into tonight at 2-8 with a 5.30 ERA... and one error away from a perfect game.

Worst pitcher ever to throw a no-hitter? At least in the discussion?

Bud Smith disagrees with you. 9/3/01 for the Cards.

So Sanchez is or isn't "in the mix"?

Poor Bud, if only he could see I was just asking a question.

The Cardinals have another recent guy "in the mix" as well.

Jose Jimenez tossed one against Arizona on 6/25/99. He went 5-14 that year with a 5.85 ERA, and in his pro career, which apparently ended in 2004 with Cleveland, he was just 24-44 with a 4.92 ERA.

I'm also gonna go ahead and nominate A.J. Burnett's no hitter on 5/12/01 as the worst of all time. Nine walks?!

how is it possible to have good stuff if you can't control it?

Velocity, movement. Good stuff and control don't go hand in hand necessarily.

The craziest no no's would have to be Johnny Vander Meer's back-to-back no no's. He also had a sub .500 record in his major league career.

if you can't throw strikes or get runners out, none of that matters.

a guy with a 3-8 record and a 5.30 ERA suggests he can't do either of those things.
