So where does this leave the Red Sox?

It was widely known that the Red Sox had been eyeing Mark Teixeira for about 3 yrs. Everyone knew going into this offseason that the Yankees were going to unload the money on pitching & everyone assumed the Red Sox would land Teixeira, which would still leave the Red Sox slightly better, but know with the drama unfolding these past two days where does this leave the Red Sox? All of Boston is in comlpete shock right now!!! Let's look at this

Boston has two players in their lineup you know you can count on right now those two players are Dustin Pedroia & Kevin Youkilis. David Ortiz looks like he is in a decline ( yes i know he had a wrist injury which did hurt is power this year, but he is 32 & isnt getting any younger ), Mike Lowell had hip surgery a month ago & it's anyones guess on how he will recover, plus he isnt getting any younger either guys, Jason Bay can get you alot of singles & doubles but he is a strikeout machine, Jacoby Ellsbury is very very vulnerable inside & teams are taking advantage of that, J.D. Drew everyone knows he cant stay healthy for a full season, the short stop position is up in the air, & you have no idea who your catcher is going to be going into next year.

The only thing the Red Sox can hang their hat on right now is that they have great starting pitching ( except for the need of maybe a decent 4th starter ) & a GREAT bullpen. They have Lars Anderson in the minors who is a great power threat but isnt ready for the Bigs just yet. They have Clay Buccholz trying to get his kinks figured out.

Still behind the Rays and probably in a dead heat with the yanks. The Yanks still have question marks in their rotation and holes in their D. I wouldn't be too concerned with the Yanks.

Still behind the Rays!?! You cant honestly sit there & say that IF Josh Beckett, Mike Lowell, & David Ortiz had been fully healthy in the ALCS that the Red Sox hadnt went to the World Series.

Beckett, Lowell, and Ortiz are old. No pitcher will decline as quickly as Beckett is about to. At the end of the season there were rumors that Varitek would be gone. If he's still the catcher, I stand by my point even more. Youkilis can only get on base one every nine Red Sox at bats for them.
