It seems like a completely obvious idea. I was arguing in favor of it back in the 80s when the ASG was becoming unwatchable because of nobody seemed to be trying to win anymore. |

| Man, the NL had a shot right there. You get the feeling this is going to be a win for the AL now.

| I got the feeling it was going to be an AL win when Utley blew it on that deep sac fly.
Nice defense by Uggla. Game over. |

There could be a hundred ways to do it; best record, alternating years (hell that would be better than how it is now). Flipping a coin would be better. |

| I like the idea of making the All-Star game mean something. Honestly in the late nineties, I watched the HR Derby and the Celebrity All-Star game, but never gave much attention to the All-Star game itself because as Vercin said, it seemed no one was really trying. |

| As I said, it's arbitrary. But it's no more arbitrary than flipping a coin or alternating years. I can see going by best record, but since the two teams in the WS play such vastly different schedules, comparing their records is fairly irrelevant too. There's no good way to do it, and I don't see that this is any worse than any other way. Quote:

The game still isn't run like there's something serious at stake. And like was mentioned earlier the dumbass commish stops a game with a tie score... |

IMO the quality of play has improved since they added the extra little oomph to it.
The problem with the substituting is the pitching. Every team wants their pitchers to GO to the game, but nobody seems to want their pitchers to actually THROW in the game. You burn through the staff pretty fast when everybody just goes one inning at a time. |

| i hate mccarver and buck. With passion. More than I hate the Yankees.
That play at the plate was a "good" play by martin, but the beauty of the play was McLouth's throw. That was a rocket of a throw right on the money and all Martin had to do was catch it and make the tag. It wasn't even close. |

| Good grief... looks like the NL doesn't want to win this game. It's never going to freaking end. I say that and the winning run will be scored right after the commercial break.
