| With all the high-profile pitchers that Beane has either traded or let walk away, has he been burned yet? |

Why does it matter to you what i think anyways? The whole argument is irrelevant because nobody knows who the most dominant pitcher is, it's all opinions.

Aaron Harang for Jose Guillen was a horrific trade as well. |

You just cling to his strikeout ratio. |

I still remember people calling into the Reds Pregame dropping F bombs every which way for trading Jose Guillenf for a pitcher with no talent.

While Harang wasn't the pitcher he was the past few seasons, he wasn't a bum either. I never felt good about that trade, but then again, I don't feel very good about most Beane trades, but he's proven that he typically knows what he is doing. |

Shifting that #5 to the great american small park didn't project well and there were a lot of Jose Guillen fans in Cinci. A lot of Reds fans were pissed. No one could have had a clue that Harang would have turned out this good.

| The interesting thing is that Hudson and Harang have basically the same value now; both consistently have ERA+s about 125 or so. (ERA normalized to league and park, then against a scale where 100 is average.)
I think the key thing that Beane knows is that pitchers fluctuate so much that signing them to long-term deals is usually a bad risk. Bring them up, get a few years out of them, and then flip them to somebody else for prospects while they still have value. |

| sorry about the loss (ok, not really, i hate the cubs), but it's at least nice to know the most dominant pitcher in the game lasted so long right?
What's that you say? 5 innings isn't very long? Oh, well my bad... |
