Marcus Giles waived . . .

Padres waive former Brave Giles | ajc.com

I didn't realize how bad a year he had. He went from being one of the better hitting 2nd basemen in the NL to the outhouse in the span of about 2-3 years.

I heard he's going to Japan to play, where he hopes to not be the shortest guy in the league.

I suspect Marcus benefited a lot from the steroid era. I enjoyed his productive years in Atlanta, but he was either getting some help or all those injuries finally caught up.
