I think 59 was Drysdale's record that Hershiser broke. I think he also won WS MVP same year as Dodgers dropped a hammmer on the As

Webb said his next goal is only to continue throwing zeros, brushing off questions about Orel Hershiser's Major League record 59-inning scoreless streak.

IMO, one of the greatest records in sports in terms of difficulty.

Oral holds the record I believe.

Next up, Prince Fielder, Ryan Braun, and the rest of the Brew Crew.

In September of 88, Hershiser was as unhittable as any pitcher I've ever seen. He was unbelievable. Not only did he break the scoreless-inning record, but he finished up the year with something like 8 or 9 complete games and a 10-inning game, all in a row. He ended the year with the 59 consecutive scoreless innings, one more than Drysdale's record -- and then came out and gave up a run in the first inning of the first game of the 89 season, ending the streak.

Webb's got a shot at it, but I'm not going to get too excited until he pitches another shutout next time out.

By the time of his next start it will have been over a month since the last team got a run off of him.

Webb won't make 50, IMO.

I think he gets to 47 and then Braun hits a bomb off of him.

I wouldn't be surprised if he got the loss today. The Brewers are destroying Arizona right now.
