Rumor is that the Reds' management will not blow up the team because they believe with a little help via free agency that the Reds are contenders in the central.

Scary!

I havent heard that. But i have heard rumors that Griffey is close to being traded to the cubs for Sean Marshall and another player or 2, Hatteberg to the yankees for a Good prospect (yankees also have interest in Weathers), and Dunn to any team in the majors.

I would take Sean Marshall in a second. I hate to see Griff go, but if it's necessary. We will have to trade Hatteberg for an outfielder in that case.

Ha, maybe we can get Zambrano and Marshall, and instantly have the 2nd best rotation in the NL

Plus Belisle in the bullpen with Arroyo. Jeez, all the sudden we are contenders.

Yeah, so that would never happen, but god would it be sweet.

Other than Homer Bailey, not much.

trading both of them just makes us a losing ball club with no power hitter to make people want to watch.
i dont think trading both of them is neccisary sure we get pitching but we lose run support.
take our lineup now and pull dunn and griffey.
all you have left to help score runs is hamilton and phillips.
just my opinion

Well, maybe not. If they can suck it up and put Conine at first everyday (Javy Valentine can do it some too) and they could put Votto in LF (he has played there quite a bit recently and would be no worse than Dunn), then just platoon freel, hopper and hamilton in right center.

It wouldnt be a very pretty thing to watch for the rest of this year, but we would get the #1 pick in the draft and Bruce could be up here for next year to play Right or Center with Hamilton.

But for the rest of the year it would be a really bad team to watch and I mean realllllllllly bad.

Your opinion would be right. This team would be awful. IMO they dont need to trade Dunn if they can get Marshall and a BP arm/OF for Griffey.

I wish the cubs would take Dunn for Marshall. I still think we need to see what we can get out of Dunn before we even consider trading Griff.

It looks like the FO isnt trying to get screwed this year cause they have had very big pricetag on Dunn.

When a expert was asked if the Reds were getting closer to trading Dunn

Quote:
And no, no progress. Krivsky wanted a lot for Dunn and no one came close. We'll see if his price drops or if someone decides they need Dunn badly enough.

Not to metion if Weathers gets traded the BP gets a hell of a lot worse (Kind of hard to believe that could happen but it would).
