| | Coach Martin Supporter! | More great news!! Reds, Brandon Phillips OK extension
The Cincinnati Reds have locked up another key offensive player to a long-term contract.
Phillips
A week after signing first baseman Joey Votto to a massive extension, the Reds agreed to a six-year, $72.5 million contract with second baseman Brandon Phillips, sources told ESPN's Jim Bowden.
Phillips, who will turn 31 in June, has hit at least 17 home runs in each of the last six seasons. In 2011, he hit a career-best .300 with 18 homers and 82 RBIs. |

| Wow I'm surprised, I honestly didn't expect to keep BP after the Votto deal. |

| Love Cozart. Can't believe they went all year without him in 2011.
Good job by management by signing the fan favorites in Votto and BP. Maybe not the best contracts, but with TV revenue and keeping the core players, it will pay off. Locking up Cueto through age 33-34 might not be a bad idea either. |
