I'm done arguing with frickin REDS fans. I am going to go talk some baseball with some Yankees fans. I actually respect them and their 26 World Championships.

Have a nice dinner and evening
Ah yes, all those Championships they bought.

wow that is quite a bit of reds thread activity to swim through this evening!!! anyways good win and once cueto settled down he was looking pretty good out there. always nice to see votto knocking in the important rbi. once again, great to have him back. i am interested to see what the recent call up can do for us. he seems like a very versatile guy around the infield. sucks it is a day game tomorrow and not on the tube.

Yep. Right down to the Megan Fox avatar to Hat's Kate Beckinsale. Individuality, you see, is a good thing. Try it sometime. Besides, I'm pretty sure Hat doesn't need any sycophants.

Actually when they started trying to buy titles is when they started losing. Their run in the 90's was mostly with guys that came up through the organization in the minors.

Try again!

Mariano Rivera, Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada, and Andy Pettitte weren't bought. Paul O'Neill was signed before his prime.

Jason Giambi, Hideki Matsui, Gary Sheffield, Kevin Brown, Carl Pavano, Jaret Wright, Mike Mussina, Johnny Damon, and Alex Rodriguez were bought.
Were has that gotten New York?

It sucks that I agree with you, but not sure Godzilla or Moose belong in that group.

Neither one of them are a reason the Yankees haven't won a World Series since 2000.

Thanks god we scored there. Drew Sutton with a gane tying RBI in his first at bat. We should have one 5 or 6 to 2 but we left 96 runners on base...2-2 going to Top of 10...

Thank god for Joey Votto. If they would have left the bases loaded with no outs and not scored ya'll in Knoxville would have heard about and Atlanta man jumping out of his moving car on I40/75...

In recent years, to my infinite chagrin, the buying talent practice hasn't worked for the Yankees. But let's not pretend it's only been a recent practice with that franchise. They have a long history of offering more money than other teams could to attract what were considered the best players in the game. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. The fact is, it's long been a part of that organization.

And your point is? Is it not within the no salary cap rules?
Everyone knows the big markets will always get the cream of the crop in free agency. Get over it.

This isn't the Yankees thread. Move that convo over there please.

Great win by the Reds today. Good performances by the Reds #5 starter and a midget knuckle balling left hander. Also, Joey Votto is a man amongst boys.

Is it wrong that it makes me happy to see Zavada get the loss?

There is no reason whatsoever for Taveras to start over Dickerson. I don't care if it's against a lefty, a righty, or an octopus. In fact, every time Taveras and Hairston are 1-2 in the lineup, a mortal sin is committed against all things good and right with baseball.
