As a player, I'd probably take Klesko by a slim margin. Their numbers are astoundingly similar, other than the fact that Bonilla played just a little longer. With that being the case, to me it comes down to who you'd want on your team. In that category, it's Klesko by a landslide. Bonilla was a notorious d-bag.

Bonilla is still being paid every year from 2011-2035 by the Mets up to a total of 30 million.

So, he wins.

I think that is a microcosm of everything that is wrong with the Mets.

The Mets, bless their hearts. They just don't get it.

I want to say Klesko, but...

Klesko never finished in the top five twice for MVP voting.

Gotta give this one to Bonilla. The braves took everything from the pirates in the 90s. Can't take this one as well.

Bonilla at his best was far better than Klesko at his best. I haven't looked their career numbers up, but Klesko was a guy who underachieved to the point where the career he did end up having was sort of a pleasant surprise. Bonilla was one of the best hitters in the league, at least for a little while, but then he cratered in his early 30s. This one's not close to me.
