He is one of my favorite players ever. I grew up in a Cards/Braves family and I always loved those 90's teams and players. He is a first ballot HoFer for sure. Sad to see that 90's era of players officially come to an end.

Blew ACL in spring training of what would have been his rookie year, I believe.

This is a very bittersweet feeling. Chipper's my childhood hero, but at the same time he hasn't been producing much lately...

Actually, that's incorrect. Was selected to play in last year's All-Star game. Had a .270/.340/.470 slash line. He's not going to play 150 games, but when he's out there, he produces.

Sad to see one of the best go, but I think it was a year overdue. Really feel he should have retire after this past season.

He produced last year. If his name weren't chipper jones and he didn't have the HOF resume as precedent, you'd say "solid year"

Grew up watching him at a very young age with my grandpa. Because of that, it seems like he's been in the league since the beginning of time. He was my favorite player growing up, too.

He wants one more chance at the postseason. Can't really blame him, especially after 2010.

What a career. Definitely one of my childhood favorites. Made me want to try switch hitting when I played little league... I failed, miserably.

So is Chipper the best switch hitter in NL history? I think so.
