The Cardinals struggled to reach .500 the year McGwire hit 70, so that would be an awful time to jump on the bandwagon as a fair weather fan. There are baby videos of me with Jack Buck's voice playing prominently over the radio in the background, so I didn't really have a choice.

Yeah... because there aren't bandwagon fans who pulled for the Cardinals after McGwire hit 70. There aren't fans of Lebron James and Michael Vick either.

After hearing this one ad nauseam from Cubs fans over the years, I've come to see this as a lame point of view. You're not a better fan because your team sucks.

And you're not successful because your team is good. Rub it in that my team sucks, I don't care. You don't play for the Cardinals and yet you act like cheering for them makes you superior to people who cheer for bad teams. That doesn't make you a better fan either, just an ass.

For me it's my family, career, $ and chicks in my life mean more to me. My season tickets to UT football, all my trips to Cards baseball games (like tonight), Bears football games amd several Superbowls. That's what helps make me filled fulfilled.

I wasn't saying it to be a dick in my last response. I was just going with the flow and joking around since you said I don't have much going for me. Maybe that's true? After all, bandwagon fans chase winning teams, and at that time the Cardinals were simply not winning.

The funny part is that I don't even hate the Astros. I thoroughly enjoyed the NLCS battles in 2004 and 2005, but on my list of disliked NL Central teams, the Cubs, Reds and Brewers all come before the Astros.
