Yeah Venters? Shouldn't they be saving his bullets? This is when you throw a Hernandez/Durbin. Sigh.

Only Fredi could find a way to suck the life out of a 10-2 ballgame.

I can't remember when he pitched last, but it seems crazy. You went and got two guys out of the dumpster to pick in this exact situation, but you've used them so much in actual game situations lately that now you're using your setup guy in an 8 run game. Genius!

Five days ago, but i don't care if it's two weeks on the bench in April. He had around 90 appearances last year. He doesn't *need* to get work in. He's not that type of pitcher. He throws two pitches... sinker and change-up. It ain't complicated.

Venters hasn't pitched in five days. Probably needs the work or he'll be all over the place when he comes in tomorrow in a pressure situation.

With Venters, it's not his pitch placement that gets outs. It's his arm motion and late movement. It doesn't really matter if he throws in and out as it's darting around naturally.

He has bouts with wildness..as evidence by his two walks. He flies open and let's his arm drag often. Needs to pitch to stay sharp. No problem here. I literally hate Fredi as much if not more than anyone, but this isn't an issue.

All sinker ball pitchers struggle with wildness, of course. It's still embedded in my mind how exhausted he was in Sept. last year. He was done in August. Would hate to see this happen again. I lean towards less extra work for the guy considering recent events.

They've played five blowout games in a row (if you set aside the runs Durbin gave up in the 9th against the Brewers on Sunday). Tough to maintain any sort of bullpen roles when you go through a stretch like that. I don't have a problem with Venters coming in tonight; better to get him a needless appearance after he's had almost a whole week off than to lose tomorrow because he walks the bases loaded when he comes in. If the Braves were to win or lose big tomorrow, then Kimbrel should probably pitch an inning too.

Agree.

Let the record show something. Fredi deserves credit. This could have gone downhill fast, and the Braves have looked like the best team in the NL after the 0-4 start.

75 runs scored in 13 games leading to 5.8 runs per game. Enjoy it while it lasts.

If Heyward continues his hot start, and Freddie is back, I have no reason to believe this can't keep up.
