Man 43-33. We'd be leading any other NL Division, but we have one of the best teams in baseball in ours. I think we'll be in the playoffs.

Thanks. Good to have him back. Unlike some, I'm very unconfident in Minor.

Good news is the Braves have won 4 in a row, after completing the sweep today.

Bad news is, the Braves usually free-fall after a good winning streak.

If this team EVER becomes consistent, watch out MLB.

That's sad. Probably still have to give up a lot to get that. Maybe they can act like an American picker, and package together the bench help with the proven right handed power bat. I can always hope anyway.

How long is he signed for? *IMO* He is the best all-around Braves player I have watched, since I have been following baseball. I have been watching since Dale Murphy's career was just about over.

Signed thru 2012 with a club option for 2013.

This is a neat website to read through . . . Cot's Baseball Contracts: Atlanta Braves

I want Mac to get a new contract extension this year. I think 5/80M is a great deal for both sides.

Actually, if things work the way the organization hopes, there's a guy that just got promoted today to high A ball that will be ready to go in 2013/2014.

Did Bethancourt get promoted today? Excellent. He's been raking. Along with Salcedo and Teheran, he's untradeable. He's insurance in case the Sox offer Mac 7/120 or something we can't match.

The thing is, McCann is the face of the franchise. He conducts himself right. He has shown his work ethic (weighing 250 two years ago and now at 225). He's a Georgia kid, and he's a great player. I think you have to sign him long term if you can.

I wouldn't be surprised if Salcedo got called up to Lynchburg on his next hot streak.

I see McCann as a guy that will never want to leave Atlanta.

McCann will be 30 when his contract expires. No way you pony up for a 4+ year deal with a catcher over 30 unless there's a position change involved. If they turned Javy Lopez loose, they can do the same with McCann.

I don't know. McCann has NEVER had a serious injury (hell, other than his eyes, he's never had a minor injury that made him miss three or four games). And while I think Bethancourt has huge upside, you never know with young catchers. Hell, I can name one that was with Atlanta. Saltalamacchia. Maybe not 5 (for some reason I thought Mac would be 28, not 30. That was my mistake). So something like:

3/48M
Player option for fourth
Club option for fifth

Everytime he talks about the organization, he mentions how much he loves it. I wouldn't be surprised if he never leaves, and shock if he left Atlanta for big time money.
