God, I hope not. The picture quality of CBS on DirecTV compared to ESPN/SECNet was atrocious. I could understand some pixellation issues because local stations are compressed differently, but the color was terrible as well.

Find one more team and create three divisions. Placing Bama, Auburn, and Tennessee across all three preserves the rivalry games. Four division games plus two teams from the other two divisions (one permanent). The only problem this creates is how to deal with the championship game.

I think your theory applies, but only for good, high ranking teams. NOBODY cares what Bowling Green did outside their conference. Tennessee looks no different whether they had 10 wins or zero.
