Not a single coach you listed has previous hc experience at the college level. Not saying that makes Pope better, but it makes me feel a tiny bit better.
North Carolina and Duke hired in house dudes with no resume and it's worked so far. At least Pope has a resume I guess? I just hope he's surrounded with a good staff and plenty of nil help. The boosters had high expectations and this hire might piss them off.
Donovan is still a target, but he doesn't want to think about it til the end of the season. The timing is just bad. Not really sure who's legitimately a candidate after him though. Hurley and Drew were the top 2 targets by far.
The money inside college sports now trumps blue blood status. I remember thinking it was odd how UNC and Duke stayed in house with their hires, but hindsight it looks smart. Not flashy, but smart.
The offer is getting officially discussed today. It's around 100$ million. Hurley has said no the last few days when asked, but it might be a little different when it's in writing from the university. I doubt Hurley ever leaves, but it will be interesting to see what happens.
Knowing Cal was about to stay while secretly working behind the scenes to leave shows how much of a sleazeball he is. I mean, we already knew it, but just more proof. Completely selfish dude who sat down and lied to the fans when saying he was going to change.
Probably the best for everyone. Pretty surprised it was Arky. It's not Louisville like Pitino, but it definitely feels weird knowing he will be in the conference on the other bench.
