You might want to do some research. The DB recruits in this past class are probably the best it’s been since Fulmer (based on rankings). UT has struggled with CB recruiting over the last 15 years, probably more so than any other position.

In UT’s near playoff bound year in ‘22, the D gave up 1.0 ppg less than the defense in ‘23. The difference was the offense (over 15 ppg difference).

I don’t think he was inferring Utley will select ‘cuse, rather, they are the odd hat and it’s because of their recruiters. They did abnormally well in the portal.

UT’s ppg allowed the last two seasons are within a point of each other, 22.something. The difference is ppg from the offense the last two years, which was a delta of 17ish ppg.

CB is one of the easiest positions to rank out of H.S. because it’s one of those positions that require superior athleticism (speed/quickness). No coach can “develop”speed/quickness. Take a scroll through the recruiting rankings over the last 5-8 years of UT’s CB recruiting. It’s atrocious...
