I don't understand why we're making a conscious effort to water down our OOC schedule when other SEC teams are revving up theirs. It hurts recruiting and moves away from our tradition of scheduling high profile games. I don't understand the logic other than we're afraid we'd lose more games.
While I can't say Butch handled this perfectly, you should think of it this way - if Butch hadn't made the promises to hurd and hurd left before the season, the flack sent butch's way would've been deafening. He was in a no win situation. I still think he should've played kamara more but it's...
So now the spin is he was 'asked' to get involved. Uh huh. He wanted the power, didn't get it, and is pouting. And so many of you are convinced he puts UT first. Naive.
This is why it was so selfish and senseless for fulmer to throw himself into the mix. He was in no way qualified and only proved to be divisive. All of you thinking he "bleeds orange" and "just wants what's best for UT" are deluding yourselves. His actions say the opposite of these things.
So? Time is long past to worry about his feelings. Hopefully this is the last time we have to worry about him creating instability at the school people claim he loves.
Has it occurred to anyone that perhaps the reason the "family" needs to come together is fulmer creating this instability by convincing Di Pietro on their cross-state trips that he should be AD? He muscled his way into the picture and that, and that alone, has made this situation chaotic...
Maybe, but that's not the point. The point is those naively thinking Fulmer is just a good ole boy who has this AD thing fall into his lap - know his history. That's all.
Anyone who believes this also believes fulmer just happened to be minding his own business when UT came begging him to take the HC job when Majors was having heart surgery. C'mon people.
Several of you asking me variations of the same question, and here's my answer: the proof will be in the pudding. He will not be blackburn's #2 if he is hired. If fulmer is hired, he will not permit his closest rival for the job to be his #2 (and DB won't want that either).
So basically...
It's not about "caring". It's just saying that that is how he's approaching this - meaning that there is zero chance he will agree to be the #2 guy. That's not how he operates.
All this "Fulmer as Assistant to Blackburn" talk.....time for a lesson for some of you. Phil Fulmer worked behind the scenes to secure the HC job from Majors when he was having heart surgery. Despite this myth of fulmer as a good ole boy just doing what he can for ole State U....don't be...
Difference is I don't have a personal relationship with Fulmer, and my view on his firing comes from results on the field, not a personal dislike. And his emphasis on fundraising makes no sense and shows he doesn't really have a point besides "Fulmer's my buddy".
Kiner's opinion is utterly meaningless. Less than meaningless actually....as he's buddies with fulmer. So fulmer can fundraise? That's how we got Hamilton.
And someone mention to Kiner fulmer was fired because he was routinely getting his head kicked in by every coach coming into the...
