I have already had THREE wildcat fans call and tell me that there they are "hearing" that UK will make a run at Pearl. Does anyone know the basis for this talk?

If Pearl even thinks about going to Kentucky he is stupid...he is a God here jsut for getting to the sweet 16...if all he does it get to the sweet 16 in Kentucky he gets run out of town....The Kentucky job is becoming more and more like the Alabama job by the day...if you don't win the SEC every year or get the final four every year than you are scrutinized by everyone...Props to Tubby for seeing this and getting the Hell out...

I don't see the fit. Pearl is too brash I think for Kentucky fans to take. He is blossoming at UT because the school and the fans have embraced his eccentricity. UK is not like that. They need someone less flashy.

Still, if it happened, I would not fall out of my seat.

He is their #1 and they will offer him huge bank. I think he stays at UF but it's going to cost the Gatas some extra coin.

It makes absolutely no sense for Billy D to go there. Why make a lateral move like that? He has gotten UF to a level of being competitive with everyone in the SEC, including Kentucky (in fact, owns the SEC record for most straight wins v. Kentucky at 7). If he goes anywhere -- and I think he will -- its to the NBA.

Its time.

If you want to be the king of college basketball coaches you have to be hc at KY, UNC, Duke or Michigan. It's a rule. Look it up.

Those are the traditional programs (I really can't put Michigan in there, though), but there's nothing wrong right now with being HC at Villanova, Florida, Georgetown, and the like.

yeah...pearl and donovan are not even going to consider the UK job...why would anyone go to opposing rivalry SEC schools when they're doing very well at their own school...forget about it!

According to Sports Animal...Kentucky's Top Three are:

1. Billy Donovan
2. Billy Gillespie
3. John Calipari

I don't really see any of those except maybe Gillespie. If I was Mitch Barnhardt, I would be looking at:

4. Chris Lowery (So. Illinois)
5. Seth Greenburg (VA Tech)
6. Andy Kennedy (Ole Miss)
7. Ernie Davis (Oregon)
8. Ronnie Arrow (TAMU-CC)
9. Todd Lickliter (Butler)
10. Travis Ford (UMass)

Assistants that probably won't get a look, but should be on somebody's hiring list:
11. Tony Jones (Tennessee)
12. Kerry Keating (UCLA)
