Don't think Pearl has ever lost three in a row. Anybody know for sure on that??

Today's bullet points from the papers...

tfpOnline...

JP...meet BP...
J.P. Prince was accepted at UT on Tuesday and enrolled in a "full schedule" of classes for spring semester, according to the school registrar’s office. Prince will be eligible to play as a sophomore for the Volunteers next January and can begin practicing immediately.

"He was an outstanding high school prospect from the same high school that brought us Dane Bradshaw," UT coach Bruce Pearl said. "We are committed to keeping the best players from the state of Tennessee at home. Our style of play should enable him to reach his full potential."

Prince has also been battling an undisclosed illness that forced him to be hospitalized during the past year. Before leaving Arizona’s program, Prince told the Tuscon Citizen he lost 35 pounds during the ordeal.

"I’m still trying to rebuild my entire body back," Prince said. "When you’re in the hospital for a long time and you’re trying to play major college basketball, there’s a lot of wear and tear. I’m just taking precautions. Some days are better than others."

The book on Chris...
SEC leading scorer Chris Lofton ranks fifth nationally with 3.8 made 3-pointers per game, two-tenths behind national leader Keddric Mays of University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Lofton also ranks 10th nationally in points per game and 20th in field-goal percentage.

Darren Epps does a Q and A with the Great Dane.
I'm gonna go with the whole thing here folks...
Q. Which SEC fans are the hardest on you?

A. "I would say it’s got to be Florida. And given the fact we were able to sweep them last season, it’s going to be even worse this year. South Carolina would be a sleeper. Those people are always on me. The Ohio State fans were even on me, and we’ve never played them before."

Q. But you don’t stand there and take all the taunting, right?

A. "I never initiate the trash talk. But if they’re saying something to me and I make a successful play, I might turn to them and have some choice words. It’s nothing that gets me in trouble. Sometimes it sparks the flame and gets worse. It’s something I enjoy. Sometimes it takes my game to another level."

Q. Do you bristle when people say you’re an overachiever ?

A. "Sometimes it does bother me when it’s meant that I’m more of a nontalented player that somehow managed to do well. I just think there’s no reason to make a term for a person who tries to do everything they can and give 100 percent effort. That’s not overachieving. That’s just putting forth everything you have to win. That should be the way it always is."

Q. But your coach, Bruce Pearl, says you did overachieve with your girlfriend. True?

A. (Laughs) "I saw that quote during the SEC tournament last year. I framed the article and put a picture of her on it and gave it to her. It was a big compliment for her. It was like her five minutes of fame. That’s the kind of overachieving comment I like."

Q. Who’s the toughest SEC player to guard?

A. "I’ve got to put Chris Lofton first, of course, but Ronald Steele at Alabama crosses my mind. I don’t get matched up on him too much, but he’s lightningquick with the ball and can knock down the open 3. So you’ve got to play the shot and the drive. He impresses me. A lot of it comes from watching him play against C.J. Watson very, very well."

Q. Got a favorite movie?

A. "For a long time, it was ‘White Men Can’t Jump.’ My dad let me see that, and it’s R-rated, when I was 9 or 10 years old. My mom was out of town. It was the biggest secret for a long time because it was R-rated. I was never able to overcome what the title of the movie says, but I enjoyed it."

Anybody got a pic of Dane's girlfreind? I'm really curious now...

Last words go to the Pearl
[Pearl is asked about Auburn's situation]
"I don’t think we’ve done enough to earn respect in this league. Auburn, the only way they’ll earn it is to start winning more."

The Vols (13-4, 1-1) are coming off consecutive road losses in which they led in the final 30 seconds. The defeats stung a team that had won nine straight games before that.

"We’re certainly ready to go down there," Pearl said. "Our attitude is extremely positive, but that alone won’t secure a victory. At this time, (Auburn) would be a team that would qualify as a real good win for us on the road. I think any win on the road in the SEC this year is very, very good."

This one's on TV, so enjoy the real conference opener folks!
Go Vols!!!

Thanks! I enjoy reading these when you post them. No, Pearl has never lost 3 in a row. Auburn would be the first - and a disaster. But I think we are gonna smoke em.'
