I don't think it would shatter religion in general. It's not like the conflicting religions already in existence do that?

The more I think about it, IF we have been visited then it's mostly likely been by an explorer and there is a good chance they are not able to go back to their home world very easily.

Let's face it, if they are looking to conquer us and have the ability to do so, they would have done it by now.

No it wouldn't shatter it, but IMHO that's because people are going to believe what they want to believe or have been conditioned to believe no matter what the evidence.

I don't believe it would shatter religion at all. On the contrary, I think it would create MORE of it. There would be all kinds of new alien - based worship that would spring up and the last thing I want is to get a front door visit from some nut job wanting to share the good news of E.T. with me.

In case anyone didn't catch these, the Citizen Hearings on UFO Disclosure that took place on April 29th/30th, 2013 is VERY interesting (and compelling) stuff. Even I as a tremendous skeptic have to admit that it causes me to at least consider these testimonies.

There was some Air Force boys that got surrounded by "something" at a missile silo years ago. The commander didn't believe it so he went top side and there it was. (What ever it was). It shut down all the silos. Nothing was operational.

Pretty scary.

(Please note any inappropriate military slang is because I don't know any better. Ie: commander)

Yeah, I've heard multiple sources claiming they've seen strange lights that would fly away at absurd speeds, or reporting strange craft over the fields. All kinds of weird ****.

Interesting thread. I tend to lean more towards the extra-dimensional explanation for UFOs before the extraterrestrial one. First, there's the whole issue of distance. If someone out there really found us that interesting, its just hard to reckon with the idea of a craft that could physically travel even a mere thousand light years...

Additionally with the speeds these things have been filmed moving at times, where's the sonic booms?

From what digging I've done just online over the years, it seems like 95% of what you find is disinformation, fake or both. That is kind of my gut feeling on your mainstream Roswell/Area 51/greys/flying saucers/Ancient Aliens fodder. Its great for TV and movies though.

It does seem to be a real phenomena, but it seems to me that whatever a UFO is, they are only seen when and if they choose to be seen.

Missile cops have some pretty vivid imaginations. There's all sorts of stories and whatnot.

Not saying anything is untrue, but those stories take on a life of their own sometimes.

My understanding is that if you in the military and you see things like this, you generally keep your mouth shut. Reason given is you are not as likely to get promotions. I would think it would be a wise decision myself. But these guys, spilled the beans.

Dave put FASTEAGLE 02 into high cover passing through about 15K and she and her WSO witnessed the events from a perfect vantage point. Dave continued his dive lower towards the object, now also attempting to slave the radar through his HMCS to achieve a short range lock. No luck. His intention was to pass the object close aboard at about 350 kts, but as he got closer he noticed that the AAV had oriented one of its skinny ends towards him, as if, in his words, “It had just noticed us” and it was now pointing at them.

I've often read that the reason the government covers up the alien encounters is because if we as the people knew of it, it would destroy religion. Also causing chaos. Some speculate religion (as a whole) was used as a control measure years ago.

1) If aliens visted, you would unquestionably know about it.

2) Even if they did visit in secret which would be damn near impossible, the government couldn't keep it a secret. They suck at everything.

3) Religion no doubt has been used (from the beginning) to influence/control people. I once thought it was an exclusively bad thing. Not so much anymore.
