| Sorry man. It's always so shocking when it actually happens to you. Don't worry though, it can be repaired usually.

| Just call the support number and if it's under warranty they will send you a box, stick it in the box and ship it off. About a week and a half later you will get a refurbished console that is comparable to your previous(if Elite it will be Elite). Cross your fingers that you get a console with a better chipset.
Also, if your console didn't have HDMI the refurbished consoles they send out do so that's nice.

Also, I got my original 360 back, so I got screwed on getting an upgraded model. |

Also, I got my original 360 back, so I got screwed on getting an upgraded model. | From what I've seen during these current times they almost never send back the original console anymore. It's just alot quicker and cheaper for them to send back a refurbished console.
Also about the box, I don't even think they send you a box anymore. I belive you do have to print out a label.
Regardless, next time my console dies on me I'm just going to purchase a new one. I need a bigger harddrive and these refurbs are getting old.

| they no longer send the boxes to you. i found that out this morning. My console is on it's way to Texas for either it's 6th or 7th repair (literally) I've lost count at this point. |

They are done to build cheaper consoles and they also make the console use far less power and therefore generate less heat.
The Jasper chipset is the most recent revision.

Although the price drop certainly makes it a little more enticing. Overall though, there just isn't really anything on the console that really makes me want to purchase it at the moment. I'd like to pick one up eventually though.

The Jasper chipset is the most recent revision. | my son's Jasper core 360 has been fantastic. it's quiet, cool and hasn't given us a bit of problem in nearly a year of daily use.
