| After hearing about all of the RROD, I bought the cooling fan for the back of mine. I figure what is $20 to save all of the headaches and trouble. No problems so far. (Knock on wood.) |

(Knock on wood.) | Pretty sure those fans have never been proven to help that much. I've had two different friends who got RRoD faster than I did and they had fans on from day 1 of purchase. I got through about 3 years or so without any problems and not using a fan until I got RRoD. But...whatever helps you sleep at night |

| Thanks rwemyss. I'll make sure I never post again without doing the proper research before hand. This will be a day of infamy that I will never forget. |

It's been happening for about 4 months. If it would just quit fixing itself, I'd send it in, but I always get it back working relatively easy.
If it's an E74, I think it's a scaler chip problem. If you don't want to do the towel trick, you'll have to send it in, but I've heard that this isn't covered under the 3 year warranty, so you'll probably have to pay for the repairs.
Hope that helps. Good luck. | Yep, it's an E74, how much will that run me do you think? |

The warranty will cover that if the console is less then a year old. When you get the console repaired they send you the same type that you send in, so you will get an Elite console back. If the console is more then a year old it will cost you $100 to get fixed. That also comes with a one year warranty.
