News EA Proposal to Buy Take-Two

Nothing has happened yet, but here are some links:

This deal would affect a lot of different games, but would be huge for sports gaming.

Personally, I hope the deal gets made and March Madness 09 becomes a mix of CH 2K8's and MM08's better qualities. That's a pretty ideal situation, but I'm sayin there's a chance.

New ideas from different developers could be a very good thing. Almost every sports title would benefit from this deal.

Madden and NCAA + All-Pro Football and ESPN 2K
NBA Live + NBA 2K
March Madness + College Hoops
MVP Baseball + MLB 2K
NHL + NHL 2K
Fight Night + Don King's Boxing

It looks like the deal probably will not happen, at least until after April 30, 2008 (the day after GTA IV's release). 2K believes that EA is underestimating their value and is trying to take advantage of them.

Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Michael Pachter says that the EA purchase of Take-Two is inevitable. After Take-Two's rejection of the deal, EA released it it to the public in hope that the company's shareholders will feel differently.

Would this mean EA would have the rights to MLB? MVP 2004 is the best game ever.

I'm guessing the MVP folks here aren't playing The Show on PS3.

Probably not. The last baseball game I bought was Triple Play Baseball for PSone, but I'm actually thinking about picking this one up. The demo was a lot of fun and the graphics are amazing. XBOXers are missing out on this title.
