| How is the DirecTV HD picture? How about regular?
I used to be a customer but switched to cable when I got HD to avoid about $600 in equipment.
I'm considering switching back but had heard some complaints about over compression of signals.

| HD and regular pictures are great! If I was even able to get cable I wouldn't. If you want the HD life style then Directv is it hands down. |

While this article only discusses how DirectTV has reduced the resolution of ALL HD channels, that doesn't mean they aren't the only ones. The cable companies do it too... in fact, my guess would be that you would have no noticeable affect between one or the other.
OTOH, if you were recording transport streams via firewire, and trying to watch them on a computer, there is a noticeable difference... cable would be better, as they have more bandwidth requiring less signal shaping. |

| Does it show?
Even if it's reduced down it's still damn good.
Right now I have 70 HD channels with DTV, and will grow to 150 early next year. Also they are eliminating the need for an OTA antenna to pickup local HD. |

You don't HAVE to use Comcast. Plenty of excellent providers out there. I have JEA (Jackson Energy Authority). The expensive option is Charter...
In Knoxville it was between Comcast and Brighthouse... I chose Comcast, and was happy. |
