Given the fact that they aren't projected to get to market for 3-4 years, I don't think this is really a direct competitor in the war for movie standard...

If it DOES get to market then, I can imagine it having an effect in the computer market though.

The current development cycle says 800 GB. 160- 5 GB layers. They are gaining so much space by creating layers that are transparent... so they don't have the limitations of current technologies.

This is all being done with red lasers... they say they'll be able to do a 5 TB disc with blue lasers.

I'd say in 3 to 4 years 1TB discs will be old news, and 5 TB plus will be the new thing.
