| | VN GURU | XBox 360 I'm in the market for one and am looking for the best place to make a purchase. I'd rather buy a used one since I would likely get it cheaper and have a chance at getting a bundle. Ebay would be the best place, right? |

| | MODest | Amazon was selling them for $100 on Friday morning... It was a Black Friday special, and they were only selling 1,000 at that price. |

If you are in Atlanta or anywhere else with a Microcenter, you can get them for $100 off there. They extended the mail in rebate through the holidays. Good on both packages.
I'd rather buy new than used with the 360, given the number of people that have had problems. Mine had 0 problems until mid-August (launch day unit) and then it bit the dust. Freak had to send his back in once. I know others that have sent theirs back for repairs. |

It still played ok. I had the microsoft people send me a box to have it shipped to them for a replacement but I decided to wait until it was almost a year old (just recently) and take it back to EB Games. I took advantage of my one year warranty and they just swapped it for a new one. |

| | The Bull3tspung | I had mine replaced for free, just had to wait about 3 weeks. Which reminds me, I need to but the extended warranty from microsoft. Is it worth it or is it a waist of money?

| | MODest | I was just poking at your spelling of waste, BD, just some friendly ribbing.
I'm a xbox fanboy, I just haven't made the move from the original to 360 yet. My $150 xbox is still doing everything I want it to. |

I know the XBox is a pretty simple piece of machinery, easy to do what you want with it. All my friends that hotrod them say "it's not a video game console. It's a budget computer tower." |

You're right though, the xbox is simply a cheap media center PC. It seems that Sony is going to try to get in on that same action by allowing a linux port for their machine.
Btw, the 360 is also a good media center, except that it only runs WMV encoded video. |

| | smh | Yeah, the lack of video functionality really hurts the 360 IMO. Microsoft is really shooting themselves in the foot with their knack for exclusivity of file types... WMA's and such. |
