| | The Bull3tspung | I will say this for the 360 that I cant say for Sony. I had to get my 360 repaired and it was gone three weeks. I did not pay one cent. I was never asked for my warranty or proof of purchase. The customer service was incredible and apologetic. I had problems with my PS2 and Sony told me it was going to be over 100 bones plus shipping to get it fixed- I bought a new one.
The 360 has good graphics and some great titles. The online functionality is unparalleled. I got my system preowned from Gamespot with controller and HD for 300. The best selling point to me was when I told the rep on the phone about my PS2 issues and how much I was expecting to pay for the repair of the 360, he apologized for the system failure and said "we are not sony". Three weeks later I have a brand new xbox 360-no problems. I expect that the ps3 will have hardware failures as well but I have not had as much luck with them in the customer service dept. IMO advantage XBOX 360.

I had my PS2 mess up on me back in 2002. I had heard about Sony's crappy CS- and learned that it would be $100 and would take forever to get back.
Solution: I bought a brand new unit with cash, got home, pulled the old switch-a-roo, returned the defective one for full credit.
Boo yah. |

Boo yah. | I don't know if that would work now. I have not seen a PS3 box up close so I am only speaking from general experience but most of the consumer electronics today are leaving a small cut-out in the box so the store clerk scans the UPC and enters the serial number at point of sale. |

About 2/3 to 3/4 of the people I know who bought 360's earlier on have had them overheat and have to be replaced. With bum systems on that level, no way Microsoft could nickel and dime it. |

| | Senior Member | I'm grabbing the distro right now and plan to work on this tonight or sometime this week. Folks are getting Linux up and runnning, mounting network drives and running emulators as we speak. If nothing else, I'll learn some about Linux and have some fun tinkering with the new toy.
Here is a screenshot from someone running it for a few days now. |

Gears of War, Project Gotham Racing 3 (will be 4 soon), Splinter Cell 5, Saints Row, Prey, Xbox live Arcade unplugged, Call of Duty 2, Dead Rising, Quake 4, Halo 3, Halo Wars, Forza Motorsport (although I agree not as good as Taurismo in the past), Marvel Universe Online,

I have some experience with Linux so that would be fun for me if I keep my ps3. Speaking of, any word on the next shipment? |

| My problem is that XBox's best games are almost always shooters, and that seems to be about the only kind of game American developers can make any more. Yeah, PGR, Dead Rising, Saints Row, Forza, etc... They're all decent but not great on any level. IMO Jade Empire and Elder Scrolls are the only XBox-exclusive, non-shooter greats to ever be released.
Their solution is simple, Microsoft has to find a way to get into the Japanese market. You get in there, you get the attention of Japanese developers, and the number of games, and great games, will increase exponentially. |

I was ninth on the list and they got 8 of the premium units due to the cutbacks. I could have had a core system but I decided to wait. I should get the next one they get in. |

(Dead Rising)
Plenty of good games come from Japan but to be quite honest, they aren't nearly the market they were years ago. Many of your AAA titles are not originating in Japan anymore.
You can Americans are fascinated with shooters like you can say Japanese are fascinated with role playing games and round, cute, characters with spiky hair. To each their own. |
