E74 on XBOX 360

So I got the blinking light in the bottom right corner of my beloved xbox the other day, and needed to do surgery to fix it.

Its actually pretty easy to fix it. The problem is that usually the HANA chip has come lose on the mother board. The solution is to apply pressure to the board (if you dont have the tools to reflow the chip)

So I did some research and figured out how to fix it.

Tools Needed
1)Small Scredrivers
2)10 Pennies
3)Super glue
4)7 CDs
5)3 towels

Take the shell off the xbox, and remove the bronze and greenish screws on the case.

Carefully remove the DVD drive.

Remove the plastic cover over the fans and motherboard.

Glue the 10 pennies together in a stack.

There is black chip, about the size of the pennies right by a label close to the coolant fans, this is the HANA chip.

Place the pennies on the chip, reapply the plastic cover, and the DVD drive. At the rear right corner of the DVD drive, it attaches through the plastic cover. Place the CD's on top of this part.

Screw in the screws taken out.

Attach plastic shell back to xbox.

Now you need to reset the device. The best way I have found to do it is the towel trick.

Once you do the towel trick, let it cool for 20 mins or so, plug everything back in and it will boot up fine.

No disrespect, but the towel trick is the dumbest thing possible to do to reset the unit. Simply detach the fan while the box is still open and it will reset within 15 minutes......but if you like the chances of burning your house down, use the "towel trick"

I used to do that with my old gen 360. It was always a temporary 2-3 day fix. Dangerous thing to do nevertheless. Ever since I got the new 360 the thing runs like a charm. Haven't had any issues.

The proper fix is relatively easy.

Use at your own risk, but I wouldnt do the towel trick, especially when the alternative is safer and just as easy......plus my wife wouldnt want me to use the good towels
