HDTV Input/Gaming Lag

Has anyone else had a run in with this? Recently i've been in the market for a new tv and finally purchased a 32 inch Vizio 3d lcd this past week. It's been great so far, but i've noticed a brief input lag on it when gaming. It's only about 1/4 second delay, but it's enough to be a royal pain. It's not that big of a deal on games like Skyrim, but it's become borderline unbearable on games where split second decisions and timing are necessary (a la CoD and Madden)....especially if you like to play competetively.

The only way i've gotten it to be minimized so far is scaling back the resolution on the 360 to 420p and setting the tv to game mode. I'm hoping there is a way to fix it without sacrificing the 720/1080 resolution, but havent't found a solution yet. Any feedback or suggestions would be appreciated.

No - my only guess is because you got a Vizio and not an awesome Sony Bravia.

Happened on a cheap tv I bought a couple of years ago. GPU was too slow. If it is like mine you will have problems with video lagging behind audio as well. Try the NFL Network for some reason it was particularly bad. Fortunately I was able to return it

My vizio just felt cheaply made - it took like 10 seconds for it to registered when I changed the channel... I gamed on it for awhile but can't say I paid close enough attention to see if it was behind - I played a lot of our NCAA OD in NCAA '10 using that 32" vizio.

Good TVs, but not top of the line.

I honestly didn't notice a huge difference (or that latency was even a problem) until I kicked a field goal when playing madden last night. The split second delay threw off my accuracy and the ball went 25 feet wide right. After I went into practice mode to try out kicking again I figured out there was a problem.

If you play online, you won't notice the minuscule 0.05 second "input lag" over the 35.2 second connection lag.

Go into advanced TV settings and see if you have smooth motion effect on. Turn it off if so

Already checked to see if I could turn it off. I apparantly don't have the option to configure that setting on this tv.

Run the tv at its highest resolution. That's the native resolution. I'm sure it's probably 720p or maybe 1080. If the tv has a game setting try using that.

If you play online you're gonna deal with lag no matter what system you use, what tv you have, or how good your connection is.
