| Games you love that "everyone" hates The retro thread gave me the idea for this thread.
What are some games (any platform) that you really loved but they were games that were given bad reviews, sold badly, or just seemingly everyone hated?
My all time game is Strider on the NES released in 1989. The Strider arcade game and Genesis version were both very popular and given great reviews but the NES version is very different (mostly due to system restrictions). Most critics hated it and most players did too, but I love this game. I loved it from the first time I played it. I actually like it more than the Genesis version.
Another is Snake's Revenge on the NES, which is a non-canonical sequel to the original Metal Gear. The real sequel to Metal Gear is Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake released only in Japan (actually the real version of Metal Gear was only released in Japan too). Snake's Revenge has always been dumped on, but again, I really thought it was a decent MG game.

I still have the original cartridge, somewhere. |

| I could give you a game that I hate but everyone loves. It is Call of Duty: Black Ops. Call of Duty has become stale ever since Call of Duty 4, yet all my friends don't seem to think so. Call of Duty 4 was the best Call of Duty game ever made. Every Call of Duty made after CoD 4 has not introduced anything new to the series. With one coming out every year and Activision milking it for all it's worth, no wonder it has gotten so stale. I will not be purchasing another Call of Duty until they show me that they have actually introduced new and innovative features. This year for me, I'm getting Battlefield 3. It looks amazing! |

| PTO (Pacific Theater of Operations http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P.T.O.:..._of_Operations
WWII simulation game. You planned amph. assaults, air raids, island production of materials, martial law, ship/fleet construction, research and development, everything. It was for the Super NES as I recall although I also purchased it again later for the PS2 off of Amazon.
I wasted many many MANY hours overseeing the oil production for Saipan.
