| Question for the Gamers At the risk of starting some kind of riot, I've got a question for you gamers. My son, 8 years old, is begging for a PS3. A couple of his friends have one, so he wants one. After some research, it would appear to me that he would be better of with an XBox 360 with Kinect. He's only 8, and he can still play his favorite games with the controller if he wants, but I think he would really like the Kinect feature. And my wife apparently likes to dance. Any thoughts on any advantages the PS3 has over the XBox? I'm aware of the Blu-Ray on the PS3, but is there anything else of significance? |

| They're both good. The PS3 also has something called move if you really want him to play those stupid motion games that get old quickly plus get him what he asked for.

| | Bring back post junkies!! | A lot of it depends on whether or not you are going to allow him to play online. If you aren't, then 360 is probably the way to go. They are cheaper and the Kinect is much better than the Move.
If you are going to let him play online, I would get him the PS33 since he has friends that have a PS3. The one perk for the PS3 is it is free to play online. You have to pay (not much) to play online with the 360. You get a lot more online features with the 360, so it is worth the money.
If he hasn't ever shown any interest in a 360, I think the decision is an easy one. Posted via VolNation Mobile |

| Thanks for the info folks. He thinks he wants to play online, but I'm not sure he has the patience for it. If he plays anything longer than 20 minutes it's unusual. Plus, these other kids are neighbors and he usually just goes to their house to play their systems. He also loves to download new games from online (he does that on the Wii). My understanding is that the XBox Live is much better for that than the PS3 online system. Does that generally seem to be true? Thanks again. |

| Hasn't really been mentioned yet surprisingly, but it's $60 a year to play online on the Xbox 360. It's free on the PS3. Both are P2P on the vast majority of their games as well. Posted via VolNation Mobile |

| I'd say get the PS3. Coming from a 360 owner who grew up in the computer age, They are both comparible. I think he wants it to play with his friends and that would make him happier. Us new gen kids always have to keep up with the jones's... Not sure if the Kinect is better than the move, but I think the PS3 has better games for their motion controlled devices. Plus you don't have to pay to play on the PSN.

To the op, if the kinect is your main concern, then the 360 is easily the best choice, it is far better than the move for Sony. But all his friends are on ps3 so if he wants to play online with friends, then you no doubt should get a ps3. Just depends on what is important to you and him. Posted via VolNation Mobile |
