New AC unit

Just closed a deal on a 2 1/2 ton Trane central heat and air unit. It's rated at a 14 seer. Whole unit + instillation is gonna cost me $3,500. Anyone have any knowledge or experience with purchasing one? I got prices with 4 different companies and this one seemed to be the most bang for the buck. Also has 10 years parts and 1 year labor warranty.

What's the square footage of your house? One story or two?

1 story, 1500 sqf. From my research the baseline for tonnage is 1 ton per every 500 sqf.

Yeah, according to charts, you're at the limit. Did you price a 3 ton to see the difference money-wise? Just need to make sure you're covered so the a/c doesn't run 24/7 in the hot summers.

My old unit was a 10 seer. This new one is 14. I should expect a pretty good decrease in my electric bill. Should pay itself off in about 2 years.
