Baylor Title IX lawsuit by sexual assault victim

At face value of the article, this lady definitely has a case. Props too her for not going forward anonymously.

University knew about and failed too protect....

Schools that have received transfer "second chance" athletes with less than stellar off field antics against women, and then repeat at the new school, should be bracing for the storm that is about to hit.

Are athletes/students allowed too transfer before an investigation by the losing university is complete?

We should remember to wait to hear the evidence.... Right now we are just hearing her side of the story.

Unlike UT where we don't know if leadership hid anything. Baylor clearly acted grossly inappropriate toward this woman and it looks like others.

No matter what you think about the responsibilities that Title IX imposes on schools (and I have major problems with them), Baylor is Exhibit A for how not to handle a sexual assault claim.

What truly aggravates me about this situation is you don't see this plastered everywhere like you do the crap we have going on.

Waco police have never interviewed Armstead or Chatman, according to records and multiple interviews. Waco police's Swanton told Outside the Lines he did not know why neither had been interviewed by police but noted that the woman was "adamant that nothing had happened" during her conversations with police.

Waco police spokesman Sgt. Patrick Swanton told Outside the Lines on Tuesday evening he did not know whom his department had contacted at Baylor.

Baylor's investigation of the allegations against Armstead and Chatman didn't begin until the alleged victim, encouraged by a friend who had attended a recent sexual assault prevention training program at the school, asked Baylor officials about her case this past September.
Big difference in too drunk to know what happened and "adamant that nothing had happened".

Waco PD knows they told somebody named Baylor but they don't know which one it was. Isn't there a Baylor High School in Tennessee? One would think the police would keep records.

Baylor's investigation began when the alleged victim informed the school.

Oakman arrested today : Waco police arrest former Baylor football player Oakman on sexual assault charge - WacoTrib.com: Higher Education

This incident occurred after Oakman left Baylor waiting on the NFL draft but, with all the other news surrounding the football program, negative news just keeps piling on.
Prominent players in the following quote:

Yogi (the Barrister)= Prominent So Texas Criminal Defense Atty

Johnny Jefferson= BU RB that gained 299 yds in the Russell Ath Bowl

Jefferson's baby mama= Jefferson's baby mama

Yogi

Uh Oh... There may be more to this story...

Johnny Jefferson's baby mama has gone off on social media already.
From her side of the story, it sounds like this woman was upset
because Oakman was about to get paid and he didn't plan on taking the
young lady with him. So, she did what she had to do to make sure that he
doesn't get paid.

Sounds like there might have even been a prior relationship between the two.

So, what winds up happening is nothing. If he did it, then she gets no justice. If he didn't do it, he still has the soiled reputation and it affects his career.

The part of the story we know is that she willingly walked with him to his place after closing a bar on Saturday night. After that, everything is behind closed doors.

Good stuff Bear. I'm glad you were able to clear this up. Your take is very believable because Baylor has always done a fantastic job with their Title IX investigations, and it's not like they've had multiple players convicted of sexual assault.

And hypothetically, if there were a couple of players who were found guilty of sexual violence, there's no way it would happen after the school had cleared them of any wrongdoing.

If Baylor says they hadn't heard about this most recent issue til 2 years after the fact, then you can take that as gospel.

Looks like Baylor has a big problem after reading all the different reports involving rape. But, hey, ya got Ken Starr running your show.
