LSU and UGA are both on track to win 10 games with a bowl victory, and one nearly fired their coach and the other did. WOW

UGA wanted to get who they want (I say Kirby Smart) before he landed in one of the MANY HC openings...

Think of the Georgia situation this way.

All they had to do to win the East was beat Florida with Treon Harris at QB. They lost by 24, which is the most the Gators have won any game with Harris.

UT definitely contributed to his firing as well.

Although a lot of this has to do with Nick Chubb being hurt too

Georgia hasn't won an SEC title in ten years.

Firing Richt is perfectly understandable and acceptable IMO.

Georgia isn't ridiculous. They just have standards and Richt wasn't meeting them. Good move.

"Standards"?, Any standards UGA had were set by Richt. I remember Georgia before Richt got there. They hadn't won the SEC since Herschel Walker in 1982, they hadn't beaten Tennessee since 1988. They weren't much better than South Carolina prior to Spurrier.

It's good for us however. The already weak SEC East is looking like it could implode back to a 2 team race between Tennessee and the Gators for the next several years.

If Georgia hires a good coach, they'll be much better than they've been.

Just like Texas, Nebraska, Southern Cal, Miami and any number of other teams who used to be national powers.

Georgia hasn't found a great coach yet. They easily could, and if they do, they'll dominate the East as it stands now.

Saban isn't leaving Alabama and Meyer is likely staying at Ohio State. Who are these other great coaches you speak of?

If they hire, say, Chip Kelly, they'll probably win the East nearly every year he's there.

Not as long as Derek Mason is calling the D at Vandy.

They wont get Kelly anyway. He will go back to the PAC when he returns to college.

What is everybody's fascination with Chip Kelly?

In four years at Oregon he won 4 division titles, 3 conference championships, 1 NC appearance, and finished 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 11th. His offenses are very innovative and productive for college football. He's also been 10-6 in his 2 full years at Philly.

Jim Doonan's five year coaching record at Georgia is very comparable to Richt's last five years and not at all comparable to USC jr before Spurrier. Also Georgia with Doonan as coach beat Tennessee the year before Richt was hired.

His gimmick offense wouldn't work in the SEC. The 2 times he faced a legitimate SEC defense, Auburn and LSU, his offense was shut down. Same thing when they faced Stanford.
