| The BCS....Still Controversial. For those that beleive A play-off system would be better. This will be a good read.
Exposes the flaws and alleged back door dealing. Kinda. washingtonpost.com Mods... wrong forum. Just noticed |

Exposes the flaws and alleged back door dealing. Kinda. washingtonpost.com Mods... wrong forum. Just noticed | I didn't read the article. There's too much written on the subject. I just think a playoff is not doable in NCAA D 1 Football. Plus, i think the system we have in place, albeit not perfect, is about as good as it's going to get. The only real way is to have everybody play in a tournament like in basketball and consider the season a qualifier for the tournament. But, it won't work and neither will all the other "ideas" that callers, bloggers and people like this guy have. I like the bowl system. Hell, i love the BCS. This year wasn't quite as spectacular in terms of teams losing with a shot at it, but every other season it's a big mess and that big mess is good for college football. I think a success of the season is determined by who you beat, how good you feel about your season and whether or not you won the conference. And for the fortunate few who make it through the season either undefeated with a tougher schedule or with one loss with a tougher schedule, they are the ones that "deserve" to play for it all.
That's all I got. |

I for one like the ideal of a playoff system. Can I live without one, Yes. However I do think the first time that one of these nightmare scenarios happens. Everything changes. Congress gets involved again and something will be forced upon the existing system. I think it's just that simple. |

| Great article. It pisses me off that these old rich farts decide how our champions our chosen. I love college football but come december i am always thankful for the NFL. While college football is better overall, at least the nfl lets it's teams, players decide the champion on the field.
BCS BLOWS. WE NEED A PLAYOFF |

| The BCS is the worst mess in all of major sports. It's a huge joke about nothing but money, and to think they are truly looking for one true champion is crap. Look at Boise State and Utah, the only small conference teams to get a shot in BCS games recently. They came in and knocked the BCS teams in the mouth.
THIS year, with five undefeated teams, they take Boise State and TCU and sweep them under the rug. Who wants to watch a rematch of the poinsettia bowl? No conclusion will be drawn from that game because neither team gets to play a BCS team, and the BCS can go on ignoring the smaller conferences. TCU should be playing Florida and Boise should be playing Georgia Tech at least, if not take Oregon's Rose Bowl slot, seeing as how they beat them already.
It's a total embarrassment this sport is decided by votes and not playing. Anyone who says the BCS is the right way to do it needs to look at how EVERY OTHER SPORT IS PLAYED. My t-ball teams had play offs. GOLF has some horrible attempt at a playoff. What a joke.

Look at the above post though apparently thier are people out thier that think the mess is good for football. Same type of guys who need controversy to enjoy anything. Drama queens. |

| They should just shorten the name of the BCS system. The BS system fits better. I can't believe the arrogance of these pricks. If we can ever get the middle man holding the huge bag of money out of the way we might get somewhere. |

| | VN GURU | In that case, at least 110 teams should just refrain from playing next season.

| The BCS page on facebook is getting blown up. It's quite hilarious. I don't know a person who has one positive thing to say about the BCS, but what positives are there?
