Thumbs down Dez Bryant suspended for a year?? The NCAA is ridiculous

Does anyone else think the NCAA suspesion of Dez Bryant is absolutely ridiculous? He didn't actually break any rules, he just lied about his conversation with Deion.

I don't understand why the NCAA thinks it is an appropriate penalty to suspend him until next September. How does that make any sense?

I think the NCAA is out of control. They seem to be on an extreme power trip lately. Taking away victories from Alabama for selling textbooks was also ridiculous. That had nothing to do with football.

Let's hope none of our players get caught up in their maliscous penalties.

Does anyone else think the NCAA is out of control?

I think the Dez Bryant Suspension was a little excessive, but Oregon's Blount should not even be considered to be reinstated as he could be. I think that the NCAA should step in and make sure that he's suspended for the rest of the season. That was about as thuggish and absoluetly stupid thing that you could do. I don't care if you just lost and you're emotional, that gives no one the right to punch anyone in that situation.

Apparantely, Dez met with Deion Sanders (about what I'm not sure) and lied to the NCAA about the meeting because he was scared. After further review, he didn't break any rules by meeting with Deion, but becuase he lied about it, the NCAA is punishing him.

I agree about Blount - those are the types of players that should be punished severly.

I also agree that it is stupid that he is suspended for the whole year....but I haven't really heard all of the story either.

So what kind of "meeting" did he have with them?

I also believe the suspension is ridiculous. seems like the NCAA treats any agent-related concerns the same as MLB treats gambling issues. Zero tolerance or common sense.

I can't find any articles that really explains what they met about. The NCAA was concerned it was to find an agent for Bryant.

Below is an article where Deion talked about it. It doesn't really say much.

NCAA concern was that Deion or any NFL player/ex-player, whatever, may act as go-between for agents. The lying didn't help but I don't get it.

Didn't Sanders also have something to do with the Crabtree hold out? If I recall correctly, Sanders was a go between with Crabtree and the Jets. I think the rumor was that the Jets were willing to pay him more than San Francisco. Thus the tampering complaint filed against the Jets.

Sanders needs to quit messing around with these players.
