| Dennis Felton fired at UGA I know this is a UT page but this is kind of unbelievable... The guy wins the SEC tourney (albeit after a not so great season) goes into the NCAA's and gets canned during the season... |

| Maybe unbelievable isn't the right word... I mean, UGA basketball isn't exactly front page news outside of Athens but I still think they were a little quick on the trigger... I hate practically everything UGA but Felton is a good guy. Of course it doesn't matter how good a guy you are if you ain't winning games... |

| UGA basketball isn't front page news in Athens. Felton has had 7 years, I believe, to show signs of progress, but his teams continue to get worse and worse. He also shows inabilty to adjust gameplan and personel in game. He also continues to start Albert Jackson, which in itself, should be grounds for firing.
Felton received a raise after last year's miracle during SEC tourney but should have been out then. If anything, this is long overdue. He has had his chances and has not taken advantage of them. |

| I could understand the discontent if Felton was coaching at Florida or even Ken"turkey", but UGA has a worse basketball tradition (in terms of championships, fan support etc...) than Tennessee does... |

If the folks in Athens don't even care if UGA basketball is any good why go to the trouble and expense of hiring a coach who may (or may not) be any better... Nobody seems to care anyway. |

| I'm a student at UGA. Honestly, everyone was wanting a firing after the losses to TAMU-CC and Loyola of Chicago. But after the Kentucky game, voices were beginning to be heard. Booing was beginning at games. Felton seemed to stop coaching after the loss to Kentucky. 90% of the game versus Miss. State he sat on the bench and watched, not saying anything to his players.
He knew he was out of a job. This is not a surprise. Actually a relief. |
