| I think you, as a UT fan, need to read the article a bit more closely.

| What am I looking for? I want an SEC network. If I get the stupid "little 11" network as a basic channel on my DirecTv, I should be upset that uf's deal might ruin the chance of me seeing an SEC channel. Provided, of course, that it would be available to me in the first place.

| As I read the article, schools like UT, UF, UGA, and LSU -- the schools with the larger alumni bases, benefit the most from striking their own deals. UT apparently controls its own rights, too. You think Hamilton et al want to give up the kind of money they can make by contracting with their own regional provider so that Ole Miss can enjoy some shared proceeds from a deal with Jefferson-Pilot??
This is the big boys in the conference refusing to allow the conference to bargain away their rights in the interests of the collective.

I could see it happening if more conferences go that route and it proves to be lucrative, but I just presently do not see it. |

Have you not paid attention to the troubles the Big Ten and NFL Networks have had?

| As a BYU fan, I can honestly say that the Mountain West network sucks. Both BYU and Utah lost local rights, and a lot of people couldn't get games on tv. Another problem: if a game was big enough, it would be on CSTV, which was on even fewer cable/satellite networks in Utah. I think the SEC would be wise to wait and see how (or if) the Big 11 and MWC work out their problems.

| I don't care if they have live games on it, I just would like it for the historical aspect. To see past games and players back during their days in the SEC.

Buy the historical DVDs. Most schools have them these days, I imagine.
