On the surface that looks like a good hire for the Commodes

Vanderbilt: The school has officially announced the hiring of former Wisconsin offensive coordinator Andy Ludwig for the same position. Here’s a look at what Ludwig brings to Vanderbilt. In addition, head coach Derek Mason will call the defense in 2015, and defensive backs coach Brett Maxie will move to safeties. Mason is still looking for a wide receivers coach and cornerbacks coach. Keep track of open FBS assistant jobs here.

Doesn't matter who the OC is with that offensive personnel. It's absolutely garbage. They aren't recruiting any WRs either.

If you look at his track record at schools that he has been the OC, in general with a couple exceptions, his offenses got worse the longer he stayed. Oregon, Cal, and Utah got statistically worse with much better talent. If he were really a good OC, he would be coaching at another school.

Great hire by Mason. By all accounts Wisconsin fans think Ludwig sucks and Vanderbilt doesn't have Melvin Gordon to bail him out. Obviously his phone wasn't ringing or he wouldn't be at Vanderbilt now. Very telling that Gary Andersen didn't take Ludwig with him to Oregon State.

Good hire. I'm not sure they'll ever have the personnel to show what he's capable of, though.
