good hire but disappointing that CSU will probably get a coordinator to replace him thus slowing down the coaching carousel

We are going to miss him here in Ft Collins!!

Bo Pellini is popping up in conversation on Denver Sports Radio.

I'm barely familiar with McElwain, let alone his Director of Recruiting Operations Tim LeRoy.

Art Valero was one of Gruden's top assistants in Tampa. Coached with the Titans for a few years I think.

That seems to be the way things work these days. Fans get their hopes up that their program is so attractive that there will be this can't miss savior to ride in - Gruden to Tennessee! Harbaugh to Michigan! Saban to Texas! Kelly to Florida! - and then it ends up being some mid level coach with a good pedigree and promising potential that wasn't on most fans' short lists, but may actually turn out pretty well. McElwain doesn't strike fear into my heart as an opposing fan like Freeze or Mullen or Petrino or Rich Rod might have, but he may turn out to be a very good hire. I think this is probably a pretty good pick by Foley, of course I thought that about Muschamp as well.

Not that it matters, of course. They could have hired Mr. Two Bits and we'd still find some way to lose to them.

Just my opinion....

I will be shocked if this hire works out for them if true. Good thing for a Vol fan though if true.

I think it was a tough time to hire someone. A lot of "big name" guys are settled and are not moving.

Why would you be shocked? He's at least a decent coach. If he puts together a quality staff he'll do fine.

I looked at his wiki but couldn't find a direct influence. What coaching tree is this guy's philosophy attributed to? Dick Zornes? I couldn't find a wiki on Zornes from Eastern Washington. The other guy he was under that few would claim is John L Smith whatever that is worth.
