I think Ole Miss and MSU will both drop games before the end of the season and the Egg Bowl will no longer be for playoff contention.

The Iron Bowl will definitely be a "winner gets a playoff spot" game though.

Don't know how to feel about the AP this week...I don't think I've ever seen a team jump from unranked to top 10 in a single week, off a single game.

Same with one jumping from 25 to 9 in a single week just off one game.

Almost makes me wonder if they're putting too much emphasis/preference on the undefeated aspect in that poll, at this point in the season (it is October).

I think the egg bowl could potentially be for a 3 way tie. Loser finishes 4th. I don't see the west having an outright champion.

So 5 SEC teams in the coaches poll's top 10; 7 SEC teams in its overall top 25.

And 3 SEC teams in AP poll's top 4 teams; 4 SEC teams in the poll's top 10; 7 SEC teams in the poll's top 25.

AP Poll looks more like what things should than the coaches poll IMO. It may be simple-minded but my thinking is if my records better than yours, we play in the same conference and I beat you straight up I should be ranked higher for the time being.

Baylor and ND have done very little to impress me. A pretty weak Texas team made Baylor look human yesterday.

Money. Dropping Arizona into that position means more publicity, more TV time, commercials, the whole nine yards with them playing USC on the late game. Same with TCU since they have Baylor coming up this weekend and that's going to be a huge game.

Big marketing money this year is on the Big 12, PAC 12 and the SEC. Nobody gives a flip about the Big 10 or the ACC since most of them aren't ranked and outside of FSU fans, nobody wants to watch them beat up on more cupcake teams.

Even with the "unbiased" AP poll, it can be manipulated to increase revenues.

Why shouldn't Arizona be ranked 10th?

Texas almost beat UCLA on the road, so I'm not sure how weak they are. Didn't Baylor win by 3 TDs in Austin? I don't think you can knock them for that game.

I'm holding my breath on Baylor until they face a real opponent. Texas looked awful against Baylor and that wasn't because Baylor was playing lights out D, it's because this is probably the worst Texas team I've seen in 15 years, even worse than the 2010 team. TCU will be their first true test.

Still the ugliest top 5 in the history of top 5s.

I think you are overselling an inconsistent UCLA team. Texas is bad. UCLA isn't that great, I seem to recall them just scraping by Memphis.

They'll get pounded in Norman.

The Frogs will come into Waco ready for payback. They had that game won last year if it wasn't for 2 pick 6's and a last second game-clinching INT on the goal line. Personally Ive got Frogs 2 td ahead of Baylor next week.

Ole miss scraped by Memphis too. And Memphis went to Cincinnati last night and ran Tubby's Bearcats off the field 41-14.

UCLA has had one impressive win and trailed the whole game and lost to Utah last night. They're not exactly setting the world on fire between struggling with UVA and Memphis.

The last two Texas teams haven't been the same ole Texas and CCS has kicked 9 guys off since fall camp, they're playing shorthanded. Baylor was avg like 58 PPG and scored half that. The way BYU beat Texas is the way I'd expect Baylor to beat them.
